His son Giorgio was born in 1905 and his daughter Lucia in 1907.

He returned to Dublin in 1909 with a view to getting his Dubliners published and to set up a cinema. He returned again in 1912 again attempting to get Dubliners published, however it again proved fruitless, he left Ireland disgusted, he would never return again. In 1915, Joyce moved to Zurich, Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport Parking Austria-Hungary because of World War One; in Zurich he met Frank Budgen and Ezra Pound who influenced the writer. He moved to Paris in 1920 and would stay there for the following twenty years. He returned to Zurich in 1940, following the Nazi occupation of France. He died in 1941 and is buried in Fluntern Cemetery, Zurich.
