Now pay attention, because this is vitally important information for designing your home security system, plans, and procedures.

In the US, only about 17% of all break-ins are "hot burlaries." Contrast this to Canada, where the rate for this type of crime is over 70%. That means that in well over half the cases occurring in Canada, the occupants are home and are directly confronted by the bad guy.
